We all understand that the very best foods to take in when we want to lose weight are healthy fats, whole grains and lean meats. These ingredients load us with protein and energy. They keep the body nutritionally well balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a few of the foods you've been thinking are fine for your diet could actually be making you retain weight? They could possibly be even adding fat laden calories to your body! Here are some of the foods that you might be having which are hurting your efforts to lose weight.

Sports Drinks aren't serving you at all. You have probably been told that the sports drink is the proper way to replenish your body's electrolyte levels after a workout. Most physicians agree, however, that if your exercise session is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks could completely challenge your diet program because they are filled to the brim with sugar, empty calories and artificial colors and flavors. Choose chocolate milk for your beverage as an alternative. Your body uses the sugar in the chocolate for muscle mass repair and everyone knows how good milk is for you.

Protein Shakes are not your friend. Lots of people are convinced having a protein shake is a good way to curb cravings between meals. When you are eating an otherwise healthy diet, however, a protein shake merely sends you into protein overdose. Converse to typical belief, protein is not stored as muscle tissue fiber, it is really stored as fat. This means that if you have already consumed too much protein that day, your whole body will simply store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't nearly as good for you as you might believe that it is. You probably think that a sandwich that is produced from pre-packaged lean deli meat and whole grain bread is a pretty good lunch. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a massive amount preservatives and definately will provide you with about a third of your suggested sodium consumption for the day. This is often specifically harmful if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than buying pre-packaged deli meat, pick some home cooked poultry or the deli meats that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these kinds of options are more costly but they are much healthier for you in the long run.

There are all kinds of things that we think will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, for instance is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor. Ask your doctor which elements are the finest to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you understand and are careful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
