Excalibur is the sword of King Arthur, legend has magical powers and gave him the right to rule England. Sometimes Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone (Arthur descendants of evidence) is considered as the same weapon, but in many versions of both are considered different. In the language of the sword is named Caledfwlch Wales.
The name Excalibur came from the ancient French language Excalibor, which comes from the Latin Caliburnus. In Arthurian legend, there are two stories about the origin of this sword. The first is the legendary "Sword in the Stone", first appeared in the poetry of Robert de Boron Merlin, which can only be pulled Excalibur from the stone by a person entitled to be a prince, Arthur. In the second version, which appeared in the Suite du Merlin, Arthur receives Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake after his first sword broken in battle against King Pellinore.

Arthur get the throne or the power by pulling the sword from the stone. In this context, the action could not pull out the sword carried by anyone except by "the true king," meaning king or true heir of Uther Pendragon. Then the sword Excalibur was never damaged / broken in two in use by Arthur. In the Vulgate Mort Artu, Arthur told Girflet (warrior bodyguards) threw the sword into the lake "captivated".
After two trials he failed to obey the request of the wounded king is advised Arthur to throw the sword into the lake "lured" to fix the sword Excalibur. Then suddenly appeared a mysterious figure hands of the lake, the hand retrieve and repair the sword is returned intact as before.
Excalibur sword is quite fierce because supposedly can split any kind including steel. Unfortunately because of the sword Excalibur is just a legend and there is no certainty in the existence of such exceptional sword.
