At some point in your cat ownership you are going to be forced to travel in your vehicle with your feline friend. I know it is a dreadful thought and many pet owners fear this occasion. There are steps to take and tips for a safer more friendly riding experience with your cat. This way everyone is happy who is involved.

The majority of cats do not relish a ride in the car. They are very disoriented by the movement and can even get sick to their stomachs. Cats do not like change so riding in a car is not the highlight of their lives.

A cat kennel or carrier will be the best way to ensure safe travels for all. In fact you can even buckle you kennel in! For long trips planning ahead is key. Taking short jaunts around town will give you an idea of how well kitty travels. If you are planning a long trip be sure to check into and make reservations for pet friendly hotels.

Larger metal crates used mostly by dogs are the best way to give kitty some freedom and have all her essentials nearby. These crates can fit a piece of kitty's cat furniture, a bed, food, water and litter. Her own private hotel suite on wheels.

The metal crates that are used for dogs are an even better way to travel. They are large enough to fit all the essentials like food, water and a litterbox. Placing a favorite piece of cat furniture is also a comfort for kitty.

Most importantly is being sure you know where fuzzy is when you are exiting or entering the vehicle. Nothing will ruin the trip more than a kitty that gets loose.
